“…suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”
Meet Emily
Having grown up in Maine, I appreciate community, the outdoors and I know how to find and survive most hospital waiting rooms…
If you had asked me as a little girl what I wanted to be when I grew up, the answer would not have been anything medical because I spent so much of my childhood sitting in waiting rooms of medical offices, hospitals and bedsides of sick family members. It was hard but years later I appreciated this unique opportunity and the empathy it gives me.
I am passionate about providing authentic healthcare. Healthcare where it is both an art of actively listening, coaching and supporting you and a science of evidence-based practice recommendations, pillars of lifestyle medicine and holistic integrative approaches to care for you from a person-centered approach.
I have traveled the world and have come back to Maine. I have served on medical mission trips in the jungle and mountains providing healthcare and returned with a calling and passion to provide care in my communities.
With over 20 years of healthcare experience from patient advocate to EMT, forensic nurse examiner to emergency room nurse and community health nurse and being board certified as a family nurse practitioner; I vow to serve my communities with all of my heart, mind and soul and care for you!
It is a privilege of mine to support you with your health and wellness- thank you!
Love Always, Emily
Philosophy of Care
The four petals of the sunflower represent my philosophy for primary care
Person-Centered: You are not a list of diseases, medications or even allergies. These are important characteristics that are in your chart but your care is a conversation that is focused on your definition of health and wellness, your goals and health related needs and who you are in your purpose, roles and identity. I strive to coach and encourage you to spur on your wellness while preventing and managing disease but more generally to encourage and support you in your life.
Lifestyle Medicine: Pillars of lifestyle medicine include physical activity, nourishment, sleep, stress resilience, support and purpose.
Trauma-Informed Care: Creating a space and relationship where you feel valued, appreciated and safe and where care is transparent, informative and with consent. Everyone has experienced stress, adversity and even trauma of all size in our lives and it is important to provide you with support to ground you as you blossom in resilience and confidence.
Holistic: Healthcare is not as simple as physical symptoms and biology. Your body is complex and so should be your care. I strive to address your health physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually and provide integrative healthcare to care for you as a whole person.
Direct Primary Care
Relationship Based Care
Direct Primary Care is not dependent on insurance but focused on the needs of the individual and relationship with PCP to create personalized care.
Continuity of Care
Direct Primary Care is a direct line of communication to your primary care provider who responds to your emails, text and phone calls and is there to support you.
Quality Care
Direct Primary Care offers longer quality visits, as frequently as needed, with no delay in care. Patients can self schedule and have increase access to care.
“Having a PCP who advocates, supports and empowers me has helped me to be a better version of myself.
I feel cared for, validated and appreciated.
Isn’t that how you should feel when you go to your primary care provider?”
